I was a little hesitant to buy this based on the poor review I read here. Once the product arrived, I was able to replicate the results found by Jay H, in that I could get different weights based on the position of the object I was weighing. Further inspection revealed that the four legs of the flat plate were not equally seated within the scale. After fully seating the top plate (tray), the scale gave weights within .005 lbs regardless of what corner I put it on... plenty accurate for me! You do need to make sure that the weigh plate is seated firmly in order to get accurate measurements, but that is not difficult to do.
