This machine works for me. Oster CKSTBR9050 Express Bake Bread Maker I'm not totally enthralled with this machine. It suffers from the same defect that other bread machines have: they create these weird cubes of bread with nasty crunchy bottoms and sides. Unlike the first reviewer, I didn't have any problem with the paddle embedding itself in the bread. I tried using the machine to "do the whole thing" (i.e. make dough and then bake it into bread) a couple of times and then stopped. I just can't cope with bread machine crust. It's nasty...gritty, crumbly, hard, crunchy. Maybe if I were willing to experiment and make 50 loaves, i'd find some combination of recipe/setting that would give a great loaf/great crust. I'm not that patient... The Oster is modestly priced. It is a compact unit, considerably moreso than the Sunbeam it replaced, with an appealing presence. I use it exclusively for making bread dough, that I then bake in a 6 section silicone bake pan to produce 6 mini-loafs (I freeze them and then use them as needed to avoid having a 2 pound loaf go stale before I use it up) so I have nothing to say about how it bakes to conclusion, but insofar as making dough, I have no complaints. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Oster CKSTBR9050 Expressbake Bread Maker, White (Kitchen) This bread maker does a good job of making bread. The only real difficulty is removing the paddle (that get's baked into the bottom of the loaf after mixing) when the bread is done baking. Like any bread maker it can be loud and the paddle may start to squeak, but my parents have had the same thing happen with other brands of bread makers. The different settings are nice, allowing you to make different kinds of breads and pastries, and even jams. We have enjoyed the dough setting which we like to use to mix our own pizza crust (which seems about impossible with a normal mixer). A recipe book is provided so you don't have to guess what will work with your particular bread maker. The company was also very good to work with when we had questions. |
